Here are notes from the Alabama State Board of Education’s work session on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

A number of subjects were discussed including the newly-released four-year cohort graduation rate (the percentage of students who graduated four years after entering the ninth grade).  Alabama’s overall rate was 72% for the class of 2011.

LEADAlabama, the principal, assistant principal and central office administrator evaluation companion to EDUCATEAlabama was outlined for board members as well.

Also discussed was the newly-passed Lieutenant Dexter Holcomb Act which mandates physical examinations for school bus drivers, beginning this year.
