Alabama’s AYP Results and Other Notes from the Work Session

The state board held a work session on Thursday, August 9, where AYP results were released and discussed, and information was shared about progress in Career Tech and the state’s request for a waiver from No Child Left Behind requirements, a.k.a. ESEA flexibility waiver.

State Superintendent Dr. Tommy Bice unveiled his proposal to consolidate all of Alabama’s diploma options into only one diploma, which drew enthusiastic response from the state Board.
