District TwitterEver get tired of hearing the bad news about Alabama’s public schools? Wanna know where to find the good stuff?

If you’re on Twitter (and you should be), check out this list of Twitter feeds for 31 of Alabama’s school districts.

That’s where the good stuff is.

While only 31 of our 135 school districts currently have district Twitter accounts, the hard work and engaged learning in our public schools is on full display in their Twitter feeds.

Here’s a sample of what you’ll see:

K12 Twitter Feed

Best practices, achievements of students, notices of meetings, opportunities to engage, local news stories….all highlighting the good stuff.

For Those of You Not Yet on Twitter

Here is the simplest step-by-step that I have found to help you create a new Twitter account, giving consideration to how to choose a “handle” (your Twitter name) and other things unique to Twitter.

When you get to the point where you are required to follow 5 people and then follow another 5 (for Twitter to gauge what your interests are), keep in mind that you can “unfollow” them at any time.

Once you get your Twitter account set up, go to the Alabama School Connection Twitter account, click on lists (on the left side) and subscribe to it. It then is saved as a list in your Twitter account. Whenever you need a quick fix to remind yourself of the great stuff going on in our public schools, visit that list.

Certainly there is much to be done to improve learning for all children across Alabama.

Be inspired by what you find in these Twitter feeds.

And then make the great stuff happen for the children in your school district.
