Charter School Administrative Rules on State Board Agenda
UPDATE, June 10, 12:25 p.m.: Click to view the emergency proposed regulations. Note they refer to “guidelines” which aren’t up for a vote. We’ll likely hear more about the guidelines at the work session(s).
Here’s a re-issued agenda with the note that the special-called work session will not be live-streamed, but video will be posted a bit later.
On Thursday, June 11, we will get our first look at the rules that will govern Alabama’s first charter schools.
The regulations will be proposed as emergency regulations.
The State Board of Education will discuss the rules at a special-called work session beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The board will then meet at 10:30 a.m. in their regular meeting to approve the emergency regulations.
The board chose ten people to serve on the Alabama Public Charter School Commission last month.
The regular monthly work session will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Here are all three agendas. All meetings will be live-streamed via Ustream.
The board changed their meeting schedule after the two-year college system was removed from their governance and given to an appointed board.
Regular meetings will now be held the same day as work sessions, with the meeting being held at 10:30 a.m. and the work session following at at 1:00 p.m.
