Today marks the beginning of something we’ve never done before: a fundraising drive.
If you read the news we share, if what we do is meaningful to you and your community, please consider donating to the Alabama School Connection.
The Alabama education environment is changing rapidly. Charter schools, tax-credit scholarships, and other forms of school choice have already changed the landscape of our education system forever.
The Alabama School Connection is the only news site in Alabama that focuses exclusively on education, helping you find information you need to know. More folks knowing more about what’s happening in education strengthens education in our communities.

We are independent, nonpartisan, and nonprofit. We need your donations to keep doing what we do.

Please give $20, $50, $100, $250, $500 today. Every dollar helps.

When you read through the Alabama School Connection web site, you’ll see there’s no fluff, no click-bait…just straightforward news to allow you to plug in to what’s happening that affects our neighborhood schools.

One of every four Alabama families is immediately affected when these changes take place, and the rest of us feel the impact when those changes take root and influence educational and ultimately economic outcomes for today’s children and tomorrow’s adults.

Communities need information to engage with those folks who make decisions, enact the laws, and point the direction in which our schools are headed.

We compile numbers found nowhere else that help tell the story and provide the facts for the foundation of discussion.

“As a taxpayer who values transparency, and as citizen who values education, I find the ASC to be an invaluable resource. The ASC has provided me with the information that I need to contact legislators and local representatives with confidence when I am concerned about a policy or about how education dollars are spent. It is gratifying to know that a resource exists for non-partisan, fact-based, spin-free information.

A citizen armed with facts has a powerful voice in the community. The ASC is a dangerous weapon in the hands of citizens who want their voices heard and their tax money invested wisely.”

– Wendy Cornett Love, parent, St. Clair County

The facts we gather inform media stories across the state, further spreading the information people need to step up and engage in the discussion before actions are etched in stone.

Our school fees story took flight across the state, prompting mainstream media to ask questions about why families pay so much to participate in a free public education. That started a statewide discussion among parents and community members.

That led to a conversation about state funding, and whether that funding is equitable and adequate.

Our collaboration with the newly-launched BirminghamWatch expands our reach into a new audience interested in public-service journalism.

Our stories help educators and heroes teaching in our schools stay ahead of the changes, finding out what’s happening before it happens, giving us all time to add our voices to the conversation.

Your donation allows us to continue producing the news, information and events that continue connecting our Alabama community to our schools.

Please donate today. We need your help.

Donations are tax-deductible. The Alabama School Connection is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Thank you for supporting the work of the Alabama School Connection.
